About David Thompson
David M. Thompson, DO, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, and his osteopathic medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. After graduating from the Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital Residency Program, he completed a trauma fellowship at the Wright State University Orthopaedic Surgery Trauma Fellowship Program.
Dr. Thompson served on the hospital’s Graduate Medical Education Committee. He is a member of the AO Trauma and a candidate member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. He is a resident member, of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Thompson and his co-authors published, “Routine Postoperative Computed Tomography Scans Following Posterior Pelvic Fixation of Pelvic Ring Fractures: A Survey of OTA Orthopaedic Traumatologist” in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. Additionally he published “The Central-Splitting Approach for Achilles Insertional Tendinopathy and Haglund Deformity,” in JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques journal.
While at Hughston, Dr. Thompson has presented his research during conferences and training events for athletic trainers and he has presented at Hughston Ground Rounds continuing education events. Dr. Thompson mentored high school students and he allowed medical students who have an interest in pursuing orthopaedic medicine as a career to shadow him during clinic and surgery.
