About David Hak
Before coming to central Florida, David J. Hak, MD, MBA, FACS, served as the interim director of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Denver Health Medical Center, and as professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Colorado. His postdoctoral training included an orthopedic residency at the University of California at Los Angeles and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of California at Davis. He received his MBA in Health Care Administration from Auburn University.
He has been on the faculty of the University of Michigan, the University of California at Davis, and the University of Colorado. Dr. Hak has published numerous basic science studies on fracture healing, and additional publications of various clinical topics in orthopedic trauma.
Dr. Hak has served in different leadership roles in the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and is the immediate past Chair of the Orthopedic Research Society International Section for Fracture Repair. He has served on the AO North America Musculoskeletal Trauma Education Committee, as editor of AO North America News, and currently chairs the AO North America Education Advisory Board.
Dr. Hak is actively involved in clinical care of multiply injured patients. His areas of interest include pelvic and acetabular trauma, proximal humerus fractures, tibial plateau fractures, and treatment of nonunions.
